Encampment Named Award Finalist

Last week, the Eric Hoffer Project announced the Eric Hoffer Award for general fiction. Among the 18 finalists was our own Encampment: A Novel of Race and Reconciliation.

We’re so excited! Just to be a finalist for such a thoughtful award is a great thrill. We’ve only been publishing books for a year, and yet we’re running with some heady company. We asked author Carl Eeman for his reaction, and after we peeled him off the ceiling, he regained his composure and said he was “just floored that my little story would even be considered by the Hoffer Project.”

The Eric Hoffer Award for short prose and books was established at the start of the 21st century as a means of opening a door to writing of significant merit. It honors the memory of the great American philosopher Eric Hoffer by highlighting salient writing, as well as the independent spirit of small publishers.
